Newbie: Powerbook, Mackie Spike, Logic E6? A good start?
I’m looking to record using a Powerbook, Logic Express 6, and a Mackie: Spike. My question is: how much inferior would combo drive with 1.33GHz PowerPC G4 256MB DDR333 SDRAM be compared to a super drive with 1.5GHz PowerPC G4
What do you think of the Mackie Onyx 1220?
What do you think about this mixer? Is it worth its money? Are the features ok? Like hows the preamp? And the DI? And whats with this FireWire option?

Quick! Help! Mackie Desks
Hello, I’m new ‘round here and am looking for a quick answer as I’ve seen two second hand Mackie desks. I’ve had a quick look through the forums and couldn’t find anything so apologies if this has already been covered.
I am producing electronic music, no live stuff. I have two synths, a Waldorf Pulse and a Virus C, I run Logic off a PC with a Midiman Audiophile (2ins 2outs).

Mackie Onyx - anyone?
I have yet to read a review on these new mixers, just wondering if they live up to the often misleading Mackie marketing hype? The look good, the price is right, and it's been years coming for a new design. Looking at the A&H MixWizard but willing to give the Onyx a shot, still too fresh on the market I guess?

Mackie preamps vs. . A&H
With GC offering the Mixwizard 16:2 for $800, my credit card is getting the urge to buy something - even though new mics are next on my "list", that mixer is tempting.
I currently have a pair of Mackie 1402s - a VLZ and a VLZ Pro. I use them primarily as a banks of mic preamps for on-site recording, coming out of the inserts into a MOTU 24i.

Mackie preamps and firewire interface
ok so i had pretty much decided to go with a MOTU 828mkII with an m-audio octane for connecting 8 drum mics! for live i'd use my Behringer 2004's 4 of 8 preamps ! it has a main output and an alternative! i'd connect mics to 4 channels and pan them hard right and left! then i'd send from the outputs to the direct ins of the 828mkII.

Soundcraft 6000 desk or a Mackie?
I've just been offered a Soundcraft 6000 mixing desk for 800 euros (circa 960 dollars). I've heard of the make but know nothing about either them or this particular model. I'm in the middle of googling it now to find out more.

Mackie Big Knob or similar?
I was interested in this device:
http://www.mackie.com/products/bigknob/
Great for routing (including balanced signals), great to have a turntable input, and great to have a monitor volume control closely at hand but, not so great at $895 Australian Dollars (my guess is about $US640).

Mackie DXB 200
I had the opportunity to check out the Mackie DXB 200. First off, the store had a Yamaha DM 2000 sitting right next to it. The Mackie looked like the controls for the transporter room in original Star Trek. The Yamaha looked more like an analog console.
