The new Mackie boards with the new Pre's.. are they something that gets a great sound or are they overrated?

I am looking into picking up a board now to setup in a small studio that will work with local bands.

Will they do a good job untill higher priced racked gets purchased down the line?

This may be too difficult to troubleshoot without tons of detail but I'll give it a go. It's a little irritating detail - I can still record.

Just saw the ad in tape op- 8ch of preamps with AD converters. Sounds cool. Maybe some of our members will buy one soon and will let us know how they like it... anyone knows the price?

Looking at these 3 HD recorders. Opinions/pros & cons greatly appreciated!

Has anyone heard the new Mackie Onyx preamps and perkins EQ on their new boards? Do they live up to the hype? How do they compare to the old vlz and vlz pro preamps.

I'm getting a digi002 rack system to do some demo recordings. Someone suggested I get a 1402-VLZ on the cheap for monitoring. These go for around $250, but money is tight. The Behringer seems similarly featured, and since the preamps (which I assume to be the main difference) are not important, can I just go for the Behringer?

Also, what is a good headphone amp system?

I have a couple questions about the Mackie HDR 24/96 hard disk recorder:

First of all, how many of you have had expiernce with it.
Is it it possible to use the D8B from Mackie with this hard disk recorder? (Digital 8 bus)

I am trying to decide whether to get a Mackie SR32-4 or a Yamaha MG32/14FX. I need 32 channels. I was told that the Yamaha had better eq. The Yamaha also has onboard effects which the Mackie does not. The Mackie also has some nice features though. Does anyone have any advice?

could you please help me compare these analog mixer. which one is better than which one in your opinion?

Mackie 1642VLZ & Soundcarft M Series

Hi guys.
I'm thinking about grabbing a Mackie 1402 VLZ Pro.
I'd like some other options.
Basically what I'm looking for is something that will get me by until I buy a "real" preamp.
What other options are there in the same price/quality as the Mackies with 6-8 XLR/Preamp with Phantom.
