Hot plates & Marshall heads
Does anyone use a hot plate on their guitar setup? My guitar player has a Gibson LesPaul and a Marshall head (not sure of the Wattage) he also uses a 4 X 12 cabinet.
He is having problems getting his sound to be "driven" enough and not end up being too loud.

MXL2006 = pre-modded MXL 2001 directly from Marshall?
Hi guys,
While i was browsing the web today, i cam across this new product from MXL, in which they say that this new model got inspired by all the "hot-rodding" being made to the MXL 2001, 2003, etc...
The new product is the MXL 2006. Here is what one add on eBay says on this matter:

old marshall vs. . new marshall
I have been doing some gtr tracks this week and have been using 2 marshalls. One is a 1971 50w Make 2 lead amp. It says jmp on the front. The other is a brand new jcm 2000. The jcm shouldnt even be in the same room as the old one. I cant believe how whimpy the 2000 is next to the 1971. And the gain on the 2000 sounds like cheap dod distortion pedals compared to the 71.

Marshall MXL 2003
I own a pair of Marshall MXL 2003s. I've found them to be satisfactory for recording acoustic instruments and vocals, but I'm also interested in evaluations from those who have used these mics side by side with name brand large diaphrams like AKG C414s or Neumanns. On vocalists with higher pitched voices, the sibilance is quite noticable.

Oktava MK-012 or Marshall MXL603?
Hi, I want to get 2 mics to record my acoustic guitar. I just spoke with a guy at Guitar Center, and he said the Marshall MXL603 was getting some very good reviews and that 2 of those may be better than the MK-012's. Does anyone have any info. on the these mics?
Thanks.

Marshall power reduction
I've been trying to find a cheap way to lower the volume of my 100 watt marshall amps(with 4x12 cabs) when cranked up to 10(JCM800s seem to be WAY louder than normal 100watt amps). there are a lot of level reduction boxes that go between the amp and the cab, but are known for lowering the sound quality too.

Marshall vs. . POD? ...THE ANSWERS
No fancy test here, just me noodling around with a split signal out of my Les Paul. One line into a POD, and the other to a miked Marshall JCM-DSL2000 with a 1960A 4x12 cabinet.
Take a listen below and see if you can tell which is which?
