Micing A Heavy Metal Drum Kit
This isn't so much a question, as an example of how I recently mic'ed a metal drum kit for a session.
All I was recording was the kit (minus a few scratch tracks), so my resources were plentiful.
Also, I am not mixing this project - my purpose was only to provide enough quality drum tracks for the mix engineer to work with.

Hello i have a student coming into my studio to do some recording. unfortunately the drum kit is rather er cheap sounding.
I have four to six tracks i can devote to the percussion. Has anyone some ideas on placement and ways to improve the tonal characteristics?

Micing a 4 piece drum kit with limited microphones
ok, you have two extra tracks Micing a 4-pc drum kit and you have no mics on your toms and also no room mics. Do you set up two stereo room mics or two tom mics?
