Dynamics vs. . Volume: How does this clip sound?
I've been on a Radiohead, Hail to the Thief kick lately, and the mastering is very quiet, with excellent dynamics. So, I've been trying very hard to work with dynamics in my masters lately, while preserving loud volume. Here is the latest experiment at -9 dB RMS in the loud section. How dynamic or squished does this clip sound to everybody?
valley people dyna-mite dynamics processor
Hey there,
Just wondering if anyone had any experience with this processor. I know it's a fairly rare unit from the early 1980's. I've got the opportunity to pick one up for about $350.
Thanks for your thoughts.
Jed

proper order of powering down mics
Hi. I always wondered about phantom powered mics- which should I do first?
Power down mixer (phantom power), unplug mic cable, or turn off mic channels? Does it matter? Obviously I bring down faders and monitors first, but then what?

Im looking at these two mics..just kinda wanted to see if anyone on here has anything bad or good to say about these two mics.
Best mics for recording drums
I'm preparing to produce my first of many, more following, live recording sessions in the studio. This a transition I've been looking forward to and want to start off on the best foot possible. I will be recording live bass, guitar, keyboard and drums. I believe I'm fine for everything except for the drums. I've been looking to better equip my mic cabinet and now I'm being forced to.

Live Audio - EQ, Monitors, Mics, and other...
Hello!
To start off with, I have never taken any classes in audio engineering and do not have a lot of expertise when it comes to actually knowing how various settings effect sound.
However, I do know what sounds good and can tell when something doesn't sound too good. =)
So, I wanted to get some advice concerning a few things that we run into at our church.
