I'm thinking of getting some new mics...
Drum roll...
RODE K2
Beyerdynamic 160
Sennheiser 421
I've read lots of people use the 421 on guitar and bass cabinets and toms and horns too.
The Beyer 160 for acoustic and sax.
The RODE K2 seems to be getting lots of good reviews to for vocals and just about anything..
Any input on these mics would be great.

Mics for grand piano recording under $300
I have a quality Kawai grand in my house that I've been skimping and saving for years to buy, and I've finally made my dream come true after much close listening and play testing of hundreds of instruments. Now I want to record it and need to get some mics for the job.

Upgrading pres, mics, and audio interface for a home studio
Hello Recording.org Folks,
Opinions on the Heil PR40 and Electro-Voice RE20/RE27 mics?
I'm looking to add a couple mics to my setup. Right now all I have is an AT4033. I'm mainly recording vocals and recording acoustic guitar. The Heil PR40 seems nice for the price but I've never heard one, any opinions? Also curious if anyone here as any tips for getting decent mics on a budget?
array of mics
hello,
I want to build an array of mics for direccional detection of acoustical signal about 6-10 meters from the sound source
What are the most direccional shotguns you know of ?
Regards

eq'ing O/H mics
Hi All,
was wondering, what is the best way to eq o/h drum mic track.
If you are taking out a certain frequency on the snares close mic, does this mean you should take it out on the o/h signal?
Thanks,
Sammyg

software compressor kill the need for "colored" mics/preamps
I'm looking for a mic and a preamp for home studio recordings.
I reckon that if I buy a nice clean mic (Neumann TLM 103) and a nice clean preamp (Apogee Mini-Me), I'll do whatever tone coloring I need with a high class software compressor (for example UAD, Voxengo Marquis, etc).
So, no need for "colored" mics and/or preamps.
What do you think about this?
