Budget Condenser Mics
I am researching budget-priced (under $200) condenser microphones for recording vocals. I am looking at the Oktava MK012 and MK219, Behringer B1 and B2, and the Global Audio GXL2200. Has anyone used these specific models? What type of results can I expect with this class of mic? Also, are there any great internet resources for researching microphone performance?

Classical Guitar Mics
Just heard the Royer Labs demo CD, and I must say that the Schoeps 221B mic sounded SWEET on classical guitar! I couldn't find it for sale anywhere (I guess cause it's old), but on the Schoeps website directxfiles.com, it said that they have a NEW "improved" version called the M 222 B. Does it really sound as good as the 221?

Heads Up - RS clip on instrument mics
Since I know Harvey is partial to them, and a few others here are as well, I thought it'd be worth mentioning that Radio Shack has these mics on sale for $30 a pop. If nothing else, get a few and sell them to the next band that asks you if you can help them with their live setup ;)

I have a chance to score the Beyer kick mic for $125, and the Cad for $30... anyone know if these are decent mics. I like Beyer stuff, I just want to know if this is one of the good ones or not.
Cant find a price for the TGX anywhere though so I dont know what its worth...

anyone use groove tube mics?
i'm looking at getting a pair of AM52's because they are only $199 a piece right now at musicians friend. i want a pair of mics with switchable patterns. i'm going to mainly use them for recording string quartets, vocals, other acoustic combos. price does matter, so please don't suggest i go get a C12 or something like that. thanks.

RODE mics overload too easily?
I have a RODE NTK and this mic has a tendency to overload far too easily... Even when recording a quiet amp I get cuts in the sound! Does this happen to anyone else? I was under the impression that RODE 's microphones had an amazing SPL tolerance.
Is it a possibility that it's just disagreeing with my preamps?

IMPEDENCE OF OLD Mics
I have two Elvis mics Shure 55C and 55b and Voice Box. I can not get enough gain out of them for thelife of me. the 55C is 100.000 ohms. Should I get some sort of impedence converter? How does this work?

Can clipping harm condensor mics?
Went and tried the km184 on bass drum. One take was six minutes of nothing but clips. Could I have damaged the mic?
