Description

Mid-side processing takes a left/right stereo signal and breaks it up into two separate layers: Mid and Side. Mid-side processing is a highly effective way of making adjustments to the spacialization of a mix or master to make your mix sound full and wide.

Mid Side (MS) recording

I have an AKGC200B (cardoid condenser) and am buying a RODE NT2-A (multi-pattern) which just happens to have a figure 8 pattern avaiable. If I wanted to set these up for MS recording does my sound card *need* to have an MS decoder, or can I deal with arranging the L & R channels properly after I record the signal, which will be in Soundforge. I have a MOTU 828MKII btw..

MS stereo recording and ms matrix decoding.

I am planning to buy a Sennheiser MKH 418S shotgun mic which records MS stereo. I am planning on using the mic with my Tascam DA-P1 DAT recorder which only has L/R XLR input and I read somewhere that in MS stereo records M signal to the L channel and the S signal on 2 other channels and later combine in post production to create the stereo sound file.

M S Matrix? what is it?

Hi, i just wanted to know what is it about or what it does, and how to use it, i tried opening this plugin in wavelab but i had to open another cos the sound turned left, and then it came back to center, but i don't understand what is it for.

Sorry about my ignorance but i need lamest terms to understand, and then a good explanation.

Thanks.

m/s matrix
