I plan to begin podcasting. Also, know in the future I'd like to record vocals and keyboard (but not immediately).

Hi, having problems with my mxl mics. The toneport works fine hooked up to my fender leccy but when i plug my mics in, i get nothing but harsh crackling sounds.
I got them going once by disconnecting and reconnecting them and then turning phantom power off then on again but it was a one time only. Any ideas anyone?

What can you guys tell me about these microphones for a starter? I have already ordered my SM57 on ebay, and now I am going to order my mbox2. I have two options:

-with my academic discount I can get the mbox I want for $350 on sweetwater, just the mbox2 and the Pro Tools software with plugins.

Hi, I'm totally new to recording.

I'm getting a Fostex 8-track. What would be better for recording guitar, piano, conga and cello? I'm planning to play all of these instruments myself so I'm going to record each separately.

Im a freshmen college student and have recorded three songs with my friend literally in my dorm room. Haha. I like many others have the MXL 990/991 condenser mic pack that I got for under a $100. I made a quick myspace with the three songs I've recorded. I wanted some input on how the vocals sound?

I recently talked a guy at GC into throwing a pair of these mics in when I bought my Firepod today. Anyone use these mics? How do they respond, and sound on different instruments?

I know they are pretty cheap normally so Im not expecting much, but I'm curious of what you all think of them.

I can't find the front of my MXL 990 they say something about the polarity but i can see anything about that on the mic... I also wanted to know is their anywhere I can get a windshield for that mic please?

Hey..i'm TOTALLY new to the recording stuff neither did i have a lot of money. So I got the least expensive stuff i could find. I got a MXL 990, Some LiveX XLR cable (5ft), & a Behringer Mic200. I plug that into my Home PC with a standard Sound Card. Anyway, when I started out it sounded great. Ofcourse, since they are really cheap so there was this hiss.

I've heard rumor of a cheap way to modify this microphone (change some of the soldering and a few of the cheaper circuits) to make this budget mic really perform... any one have any further insight into this?
