Yamaha ns10 power amp question
My friend got these monitors off of ebay, and apparently they hook up through speaker wire and not through quarter inch.
So does he need some type of reciever? Will a standard stereo receiver work? What exactly does he need to purchase to hook these up to his sound card?

JBL 4208 Near Field Monitors
Has anyone used this monitors. I wasn't able to find much information for these but I found them in a very good price. I used to mix on NS10 a lot. I'm mounting a small mixing/tracking room at home to do some of my ork and lo budget productions. Do you think this may ork?
I do mostly acoustical/jazz/fusion. Sometimes pop/rock too.
Do you think this will serve for a start.

Near Field Monitors For Dance Music
Hello, new here and been finding lots of great info but I have something a bit specific. I make electronic music as well as urban beats with the goal to hit hard on the club dancefloors. Currently I hate using my M-Audio BX8a's (which I bought on a whim) in an naturally ok sounding small room (carpets, drop ceiling, tons of curtains). Please help me decide on the monitoring setup.

Yamaha MSP5 vs. HS50M monitors
I'm looking to buy a second set of monitors beside my 1031A's and was thinking about one of these Yamaha's because they're cheap.
I have not yet compared these in the store, but reviews on both of them are surprisingly positive. What are the differences? And why are the MSP5's more expensive? Thanks.

$4,000~$1,000 near-field choices.
I've been looking at adding a good pair of monitors to my setup (a 16x10x8 room in an apartment, which also needs acoustic treatment), and I was ready to just get a higher-low-end pair like the Mackies, until I investigated further into the mid-end monitors. Lately I've done A/B tests at some of the pro audio stores around here, and the ones I'm currently considering are:

Near-field Monitor help
Anyone tried the Blue Sky Media Desk 2.1 monitors? I've seen lots of great reviews, but haven't seen much pro forum discussions on them. I like the option of being able to upgrade to 5.1 for another $500. I like mixing on transparent, "brutal truth", near-fields such as the NS10's, but the NS10's are now SO expensive ($1000), I'm not sure if the cost is justified anymore.

Philosophical question about near-field monitors
What justifies the high price of some small near-field monitors compared to others? For example, the Klein+Hummel 0110's vs the Dynaudio BM5A's. On paper, the specs look similar to each other and I've read rave reviews about both. But the K+H's cost twice as much as the Dynaudios. What is it about the K+H's that gives them their higher value? Thanks.
