i didnt know were i should place this post but here goes.. i read a article about optimizing win XP. everything was straight forward exept the part about virtual memory, it said that i should set the virtual memory to 1.5 or 2 times as much as my ram.. i have 2 512 mg ram and i set virtual memory to 2000.. is this cool or what should i set it to?

I've got a dual 867 G4 that I am going to set up PT HD on. I want to get the OS optimized for use with Pro Tools HD. I am very familiar with Macs, and have been working with them for years, but I have not set up any Pro Tools HD systems yet. Does anyone have any tips for Pro Tools HD setup? Thanks!

A customer requested I setup their DAW system based on the above article. However when I do, the PCI based cards do not work. They show up and the drivers are loaded by XP but they have an exclamation mark and the message "This device cannot start" - Code 10. Switching the cards around makes no difference.

I think it would cool if you would talk a little about the inherent tonal qualities of vinyl and how best to prepare material that is going specifically to vinyl. Do you recommend mastering differently for CD and Vinyl? And if so, what things can an engineer do to maximize the potential results?

I'm running 001 on a G4-400 AGP, 320Mb ram, ATI Rage 128, 2 Maxtor harddrives, Yamaha SCSI CD-RW 24x4x8, Adaptec 2906. I've been researching ways to beef it up.
I've looked at replacing the CPU with a bigger one, but none of the upgrades are compatible with my G4. Go figure ... if I had a G3 I'd be able to upgrade to G4-500, or even G4 DUAL 500s!
