lately i have been more focused on mixing in the box. has any one else followed this trend this last year?

my out board gear list is weak but my computer is basically the mothership of my recording lab.

Can a Mastering Engineer,
Using nothing but pluginson a computer, with no outboard mastering gear,
Do a mastering job and end up with competitive song, quality wise, volume wise. .to be placed on CD?

No cheating, straight up plugins. For instance using the Waves Bundle, or UAD-1.

Just want to ask something about plugins.I went a bit crazy a few months ago downloading every free vst i could find.Lots of nice stuff and lots of crap of course.Now fl studio 6 is working really slowly.can too many vsts affect it? even when I'm not using them? :)

and also any recommendations that specifically use VERY VERY lowwwwwww cpu power

So, i do all my processing for live shows via plugins, cuz i cant afford outboard gear. I mainly focus on vocals. I use Wavestrueverb, rverb, weaves SSL EQ, and sometimes a compressor.

but I'm looking for a nice harmonizing plugin , so i can sing and itll process a harmony. I dont care if its perfect, i just need it to be semi transparent and decent parameters.

I'm mixing a couple of projects with Analog Channel 2 across the SubMaster bus. It sounds really good and the clients are liking the mix sounds, due in part to the AC2 plug. However, the AC2 seems to be acting a lot like a limiter and reducing dynamics.

I'm using Pro Tools mix and am looking for a better reverb program than what I'm using, lexiverb. I'm looking for some good plate reverbs without buying an emt. Is the plate 140 by UAD any good? I've got the mix system, so I don't think altiverb would work on my system?
