Single mic for one person performance vocals and acoustic guitar

Forums

Hi all,

Thanks for your help in advance...

I haven't done this mic setup before; I have a small consult requested from a one person performer who travels and wants me to set up an easy use mixer and single mic to pick up both vocals and acoustic guitar that he can do himself.

Using live performance as studio promotion

hey all just thinking of some new ways to promote the studio when it's done getting prettied up. I was thinking of doing a series of live shows. book 12 bands, and once a month do a live show production, w/ video. thinking maybe sell 30-50 tickets, and try to catch some touring acts, and local bands.

home performance vs studio sound?

Hey guys. I'm relatively new to home recording. I'm recording all my instruments either through midi or direct line-in. The only thing I'm tracking live at home is vocals. I bought an SM7b and I am using the Roland UA-55 Quad-Capture and the Cloudlifter to give the sm7 the gain it needs. Here's my question:

Teac 80-8 performance improvement?

I am the longtime owner of a Teac 80-8, 1/2" 8 channel machine. I bought the machine in 1999 as a basket case. Mechanically, the machine was flawless..I have never had an issue with relays or any transport difficulties. The first issues I addressed were the heads and guides. The heads were re-lapped and laser aligned.

Headphone Recommendation For Live Performance

Hi,

I've never used headphones outside of a studio environment---so forgive me if this is obvious. I'm looking for a set of headphones or two that I can take with me for recording and live performance that sound -OK-, are portable and not so expensive that I'll cry if they get smushed.

Help with live orchestral performance

At times, I have to record a live orchestra performance but the organiser of the concert refused to let me put up overhead mic stands on stage as they affect the view of the audience. Since I do not have any access to set up suspending microphone, up to now, what I would do is to place the mics at around performers' height, 3-4 in front of the orchestra and 2 in front of the woodwind section.

Recording individual inputs for a live performance?

Hello recording.org community. This is my first post. I bought a powered mixer and speakers earlier in the year, and am hoping to run sound for local bands in Athens GA. I'm not very confident with my ability to mix the sound right, but I figure that will come with some practice, and am making arrangements to get some test runs in.
