Improving Performance
Are pentium Motherboards better with Digidesign?
If I get a pentium board, will I have to get a new case?
If I get a SCSI hard drive, will I have to get rid of my current IDE?

Pro Tools FREE (performance & plugins)
Does anyone have experience of "Pro Tools FREE"? I have read unfavourable reports of its playback of work recorded on Pro Tools LE, but surely the point is:
How does work recorded on "FREE" playback on
1) "Pro Tools FREE" itself
2) "Pro Tools LE" (most important).

Pro Tools performance concerns...
Grateful thanks in advance for any help ! I have been evaluating PT Free for a few weeks now, getting ready to decide whether or not to invest in a DIGI001 system. I have some questions regarding features and performance, which so far are not up to par with other setups (Sonar & Tascam US-428, etc...) I have tested.

Can latency cause bad performances?
Has anyone noticed any problems with performances because of recording latency? I've tried using Logic to record vocals, and the singer had real problems (and rightly so!). I usually use PT for this, and I've noticed it's much tighter, but obviously there will be some delay involved.

getting better performances
Hi Spindrift.
I use this click trick for years now, and you're right, drummers love it !
One matter should be considered though : if your click is too "groovy", laying rythm tracks along with it makes it "unmutable". I mean it becomes part of the song groove ! It happens to me once, and the click pattern ended up as a synth perc track in the final mix !
