I don't have the room or the funds right now to get a grand piano and i'm saving for a c-7, but for now I need an acoustic piano. Is anybody familiar with the Yamaha U-1. what are your thoughts on it. I've herd them live and was very impressed at their performance for an upright piano, but do they record well?

Any thoughts would be appreciated.

I thought I'd share this remote recording story. Sorry no audio sound samples of this piano recording yet. I''ll have to clear it with the client. I'd appreciate reactions, comments or sharing of your own experiences in remote recording whether piano or other instruments.

I am looking for a good quality microphone to mic a grand piano (playing with a full band) in a 1,500 seat church with decent acoustics and a good sound system. The music style is contemporary (the newer music is getting more hard rock like). It will not generally be moved. The lid will be on the lowest position.

I have recently purchased an m-audio keystation 88es keyboard, with the intention of taking up piano again. Now all i need is a decent piece of software with which to use it. Can anyone recommend me a program that delivers nice piano tones (and possibly a bit of Van Halen style square wave action), and is capable of handling the full 88 key midi input?

I've been recording choirs for about a year now using a matched pair of Oktava mics (MK012) with some great results. The only problem is the signal is usually very quiet.

Is there a way to load a WAV file into the piano roll?without using session drummer?

Can anyone recommend a great mastering engineer/house for a CD of solo piano music (classical) ?

Ideally on the west coast.
