which preamp? which mic?

what's up everybody? i'm new to the forum but been on it for a while. anyway i've been driving myself crazy on looking for a new mic and preamp mainly for vocals. i heard good things about the summit audio 2ba-221 and like the price. i also was looking at the universal audio la-610. which is double the price and a channel strip. which may be important.

Best value preamp for under £1000. Can you help

As the subject text sujests, I am looking for a decent preamp. The mics I use are:-
Neumann u87a
An old but reliable Langevin.

I have a budget which I have to stick to. Got a grand to spend on the best value preamp I can get.

This is just one of the things I am searching for, but need to sort out the front and back end first.

Please help: I need a basic preamp to connect to my PC

Thank you for replying. I am dissatisfied with the quality of my on board sound card with the line in.

I am connecting from my line out on my practice amp which is a spider 3 line 6. I record my guitar tracks to a click and then I record my electronic drums. I want to record the TD-3 from the line out and as well as midi.

Recording volume problem. Is it mic/cable/preamp?

I am using an SM57 to record my guitar cabinet. At random times during a recording the volume level will drop signifigantly (like -10 dB) and randomly return to its normal level. It generally does not stay between the two extremes. Also the line can get a little noisy when this happens (not a lot like a loud hum, but noticable enough where it is annoying).

audio interface preamp is very, very quiet?

ever since i purchased my mbox 2 mini i have had a problem getting decent volume from my mics through the low-z XLR input. both of the 1/4" line inputs work fine when plugged into a guitar amp. the mbox 2 mini is supposed to have a preamp on the XLR input but i have to crank the gain up to 10 to hear anything from both of my mics.
