mic preamp advice
I was looking for some advice for mic preamps. I am looking for a well rounded preamp that would be good for metal (distorion) and Vocals. My budget is around $2,000. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Also, any advice on the preamps that have a eq feature on them too would awesome.

Best mic preamp (and budget pre) to pair with an SM57?
I really like using this on my voice. It seems to work fairly well.
I have heard that dynamic mics are affected much more strongly by preamps than condenser mics because the gain change required is so much greater.
This leads to two questions:
1) Will a better mic preamp fundamentally change the sound of a 57?

Help buying my first mic preamp amp
I apologize for my newbie question.
Up until now, I have only been recording by plugging my mic directly into my digital recorder.
What exactly will a preamp do for me? (for vocals, acoustic guitar)
I'm just looking for a decent one around $150 or even less.
Many thanks for any info.

Can you split the output of a mic preamp?
I have a small home-studio that shares space with our bands practice space. When we practice, we are plugged into the mixer for the PA. When we want to record, we have to take time to unplug from the mixer and plugin to the preamps in the studio (Seventh Circle, ART Digital MPA).

preamp question, again.
i'm going to be buying a new preamp soon, and i was wondering if a better quality preamp opens up modeling devices such as a johnson j-station or line6 stuff the same way that it is supposed to do for mics? I'm using an mbox right now, but i'm looking at getting a PreSonus eureka. thanx.

Any problems with using Tube mic and Tube preamp?
I currently have MXL v69 mogami edition tube mic and i'm looking for the right preamp. i was thinking of getting a tube preamp but somebody had told that some problems might arise. i just wanted to make sure if i do decide to get a tub preamp there won't be any problems.
Please suggest a colored preamp for vocals
I want to get a preamp for vocals. (for eastern voices and western harmonies). I was looking at Avalon M5 but it seems they are not shipping them at the moment. I could get it from somebody who has them but I would want to wait and see what the reason is for Avalon to not ship them before I buy that.

Few thoughts on a preamp for electro-acoustic guitar
Hi there.
I'm currently on a RME HDSP 9632 using only the analog in's and sp/dif out (at the moment).
I record only guitar, both electric and electro-acoustic.
However, I find the input from the El-acoustic to be a tad too low for an effective recording, hence the topic/subject of this post.
