Drum/Perc Loops and Pro Tools

I am working with a very young singer/songwriter (14 yrs old) and I trying to produce the sounds they are looking for which consist of a lot of percussion loops etc. . . which I need to come up with. I am Finding Pro Tools a tough tool for this. I've got a Mix+4 system with a couple of TDM sample cells but building nice loops is almost a forever endenvour.

fairlight is too good to talk about ;)? Pro Tools Import?

Obviously no one here has problems using a fairlight system! Or are henchman, bill and me the only fairlight users in this forum? Well, as we know that there is no DAW easier to use, better sounding or more effective, maybe this forum should be closed? We can amuse ourselves by looking at the Pro Tools-and-stuff user forums, and relax with a beer ;) ?

Pro Tools HD - How Does It Sound - Why Can't Julian Get

I have been following threads all over the net regarding the new Pro Tools HD and over and over again Julian keeps asking, yes "But how does it sound?", but no one has given him answer.

So Julian has anyone told you how it sounds yet? If so, could you let us all know. It is one the question I am trying to find out. Does it sound better than the Pro Tools 24?

Take care.

Pro Tools LE without hardware

Does anyone know of a way to run Pro Tools LE on a Ti Powerbook or iBook without having any Digi hardware present? I would like to be able to work on files (edit, mix) while away from my main setup.

I suppose the new Mbox will allow you to do just that. However, it won't be available for awhile yet and I need to get a working setup by Feb 1.

Anyone else think ADATs sound better than Pro Tools?

I did a three piece band on ADATs, thru a Tascam board. Made a ruff mix of one of the songs on the Tascam. Then, digitally transferred the ADATs into Pro Tools LE, set to the same sampling rate and bit depth. Tried a ruff mix internally in Pro Tools, and the ruff I did off the ADATs thru the Tascam desk squashes the Pro Tools mix like a grape!
