Signal processing order. revisited
I know Kurt has addressed this, and I know it was recently (within a few months) but I can't find it anywhere. So I can't 'revisit' it.
So, can you guys re-state your preferred chain of events when setting up tracks. Vocal, Guitar, Drums. etc. Or Just Vocals.
ie. signal->compression-eq-reverb
signal->gate-eq-compression-compression-reverb

'Boombox' processing?
My question is simply this...what type of processing, if any, do consumer music systems use to try to make them sell more than their competitors? And how do you as mastering engineers deal with this, as presumably you need to try and make any recording sound as good as possible on any type of system?

Test Signal Processing Power of your PC
Vincent Burel wrote a simple proggie to test your PC capabilities in real audio processing situations. Test results look a bit abstract to me, but if we post them here we can compare how our DAWs score. I'm particularly interested in ANUS DAW scores (PIV 1.6 FSB versus o/c).
