Running Shielded RCA cables
Just wondering what the rule of thumb is for a safe distance to run RCA cables between my equipment?
In the end I suppose all that matters is if you can hear any hum or ground loop stuff audibly, right?
I have to hook up cables (RCA) between my deck, my computers, and my mixer. Each run will be anywhere from about six feet to as much as about twelve feet.

Which choice of mixer (RCA/1/4' jacks vs. . USB and firewall)
:( 1. I need suggestions regarding what kind of mixer to purchase (for under $200) for my little home set up. I want one that has a relatively simple learning curve. I am not that great at this.
I contacted musician’s friend and they suggested one with a USB and firewall. I barely know how to set up the one with the RCA and ¼ cables.

RCA console preamps
The RCA BC-2b was famous for cool sounding pre's.
I have access to an rca bc-7a - their transistor follow on to that console. Does anyone know anything about it? How did it sound? I'm thinking the preamps might be very high quality? Thanks for any input.

xlr-->rca impedance issues.
i have a new-to-me allen and heath sys 8 with xlr(only) bus outs, and a fostex 80 reel-to-reel, rca in/outs.
i am looking for a xlr-rca snake to hook up, but i was just told by a salesman i'd *probably* need transformers on every channel, due to impedance issues.
please advise!

Guitar compatibility with RCA
I am wondering if it will work to hook an electric guitar into a stereo/receiver's RCA input jacks. I have an adapter that changes a 1/4" jack to the two red and white RCA plugs, but will it even work?
