Recording Vocals & Guitar
Forums
Hey Folks,
just wanted to get some recommendations on recording a singer/songwriter that wants to lay down guitar and vocals live off the floor. Bleed is a given, but does anyone have any tips/tricks that have yielded good results in the past?

recording solid vocals
Forums
Hi this is my first post but i'm anxious to hear whta other think on this topic. I have put together a small (very small) studio in my home. I record the vocals through an SM58, the best mic i have, and this runs through a Mackie mixer into an m-audio preamp/interface. I am having a problem recording good vocals.

Recording hip hop vocals

What is a really good way to layout vocals?
Example: lead vocal in mono and record backups in stereo.
record two mono and then pan left and right
or use plugins that move your vocals all over the place to give that surround sound feel.
Basically any tips or tricks?

recording vocals in chuncks
Forums
why don't you record a working or scratch vocal, then record the entire vocal in chunks. Say for instance the scream occurs at the end of second chorus.

recording vocals...PLEASE HELP!
Forums
I just recently purchased Sonar 3 and man is it worlds beyond cakewalk pro 9! I am curious about how to rocord vocals. Should I be using my compressor at all or should I just use the noise gate, and let sonar's eq and compressor work for me. What frequencies should I boost in order to get that airy sound from my condensor and how close should I be to the mic when recording.

AKG C414 OR Neumann U87? recording hip hop vocals
Forums
Hi, I have an AKG C414 and I was considering selling it to buy a Neumann U87. I record Hip Hop and Mostly RnB and I use my Mics with an Avalon 737 sp.
1. would you recommend the U87 for RnB vocals or is there a better mic for this purpose in the same price range.
