RME fireface 800 cracks and pops
I just purchased an RME Fireface 800. During all types of playback - Reason 2.5, CD, DVD and Mp3 playback there is a consistent crack and pop every 4 or 5 seconds.
I am running a G5 dual 2.0, OS X 10.4, 1 GB ram, brand spankin' new, Fireface connected through provided FW 400 cord.

Focusrite (Green) Voice box MK II before IAS Fireface 800?
Hi,
I apologize in advance if this is not the right place to post this.
I just picked up an IAS Fireface 800 firewire interface and am wondering if using the older (lower-end?) Focusrite Voice Box MKII for vocal channel strip/preamp (before the Fireface) would be a good idea.
This is for a home studio.
M-Audio 1814 or RME Fireface 800
I have an M-Audio 1814 but do have the opportunity to upgrade to an RME Fireface 800. Any thoughts on this? In the past I've had PCI cards from M-Audio and RME and liked the RME's (DIGI96/8 PST) analog outputs much better, though it looks like the 1814 has improved from older products. I'm really interested in the quality of the converters on the RME.

Apogee MiniME vs. . RME Fireface 800
Hello,
I'm very interessted to record in good quality a piano with a matched pair of KM184. I need only 2 channels, no D/A, no Midi - only good piano sound. My laptop: Centrino 1,5 XP, USB and Firewire Input.

Very stupid question concerning Fireface 800 and DAW
If I am using the fireface 800 through a PC do I need a soundcard? I realize this is an extremely ignorant question and apologize for asking it, but I want to know for sure. Thanks.
Mic preamps on the Fireface 800?
Hello Fellow Forum members,
I am considering buying the Fireface 800 as my first personal home recording rig and was wondering about the quality of the 4 Mic preamps that come built-in to the Fireface 800.
Anyone have any experience yet with them?
Should I get separate preamps?

Fireface 800 alternatives
Im sure ya'll have seen some of my other threads looking for advice on a soundcard. I've been recording as a hobby since 2nd grade (on an original Tascam portastudio) and have always used whatever equipment that was either passed down from my father or bought for christmas by my mother.
