Need advice for recording rock vocals
Greetings all,
I got an Apollo Twin MKII Solo (all stock plugins) running into a Shure SM7B with a Trace Audio mod (+25dB clean boost) and my mic is inside a Kaotica 7B since I can't really treat this place well. I can do that after we buy a house but for here, I need to occupy as little space as possible.

condensor mic for rock vocals under 1k?
I want to get a condensor mic forunder $1000. The main reason I want to get it is to record rock vocals. And by rock vocals I mean anything from Gregg Allman, to Robert Plant, to Chris Cornell type vocals. I have not been able to capture the essence of the vocals with anything that I have tried so far.

Creating power/distance effect in pop-rock vocals
Greetings!
Wanted to ask for advise on a specific vocal recording/mixing technique:
I have noticed that in many pop-rock mixes the way that vocals done in choruses is different from the verses. The vocals sound thicker, powerful, but at the same time - more distant then the verse. An example would be "Who knew" by Pink.
Does anybody know how this is done?
double Micing rock vocals
Hi all! I've got some vocals to record tomorrow for my band, and I think I'm going to try setting up two mics, and send them each to their own track. Probably put up an MD421 and either an AT2020 or MXL 2001. These will each run into a Mackie VLZ for pre's, then an ART Pro VLA compressor. The mics would be set up as close as possible to each other, with a pop-filter in front of both.

Studio Projects C4 for rock vocals over C1...
I just got a pair of the Studio Projects C4's and to me, using one C4 on my voice sounds so much better than my C1. I sing hard rock, and the C1 was sounding too "tinny" on the high-endand thin bodied. Granted, I'm only using a GT brick preamp into an MBox, but swapping to a C4 makes a hell of a difference.
sm7 for rock vocals, NE experience?
This came up on another of my posts and so I was curious if anyone had used this mic for rock vocals. Like I said in another post I read somewhere that Rick Rubin used this on some of the System of a Down vocal tracks.
