IMF speakers, anybody?
Hi all
I was working with a well known Dutch pianist and he has a pair of IMF speakers in his rehearsal studio. The type is ALS40, these speakers sound very good, well balanced and a very accurate mid plus really nice low end.
Anybody who's familiar with them speakers?

JBL-SPEAKERS
Does any one know what the difference is between the JBL 4311 and the JBL L-100 ? besides the numbers that is. I have empty cabinets for both, and the cabinets look identical. They have the mod & ser plate on both.
I want to replace the speakers, along with the X-over

Can you hook an amp up to powered speakers?
OK, I have the Mackie 824's. They are the type of speakers which have an amp built in. I sometimes would like a little more volume. Can I hook my Ramsa power amp up to them as if they were regular speakers, as long as I am not sending crazy levels? A close friend said I would blow my stuff up, I really value my speakers and amp, so I dont want to do something foolish.

Verifying true acoustical balance with speakers and amp.
:) A member just raised another question by trying to find a problem in his amp.
The question is, how can you be sure you have
(1) True electrical balance from the power amp?
(2) True acoustical balance from the speakers for each channel?
This question refers to each side of a system with respect to each other.

Speakers vs. . Headphones
I am wondering what you all use for listening when mastering, speakers or headphones or both?

Speakers - used versus new?
While I buy my gear used whenever possible, I've steered clear of used speakers, mainly out of superstition. Am I making a mistake? What am I missing?
This recent thread on near and mid speakers has got me drooling on ebay again. Could someone let me know what I should be looking out for when buying used speakers, especially over the net?

Recording vocals with speakers instead of headphones.
Hi there. I recently heard that many singers record their parts listening to playback through speakers rather than headphones, James Hetfield on the Black Album and Kurt Cobain on Nevermind were used in reference.
Audio reproduction system(amp and speakers)!
Hi moderators!
What is your prefered reproduction system?
what are your experience with different systems?
I've spent most of my life hearing music and learning about diffenrent systems, and very intence the last year because of me starting as mastering engineer.
I can say that what I've come up with now is the best sytem I've ever had, but no system is perfect :)
whats more important, the speaker or the amp? I'll ta
I have heard different amps drive one brand of speaker. There ofcourse was a difference in sound with each amp. Is it fair to judge a speaker with only one amp? This leads me to another question; if your monitoring situation isn't working for you why assume its the speaker and not the amp? Ofcourse I'm talking about passive speakers.
