Soundcard 1/4" outs to consumer stereo speakers?
I have some nice Grado headphones for monitoring, but becuase much of my voice-over work will now end up being distributed as streaming Flash audio, I'd like to listen to the mix on cheap consumer desktop computer speakers as well -- the kind of thing that comes bundled with a PC or that you'd pick up at Circuit City or Costco -- that's what most of my audience will have.
What to get next, better 8ch preamp or better stereo preamp
I'm wondering what the next buy would be for my studio..
Here's my setup:
Pentium IV 2,4Ghz
Win 2000 pro
1 Gb ram
120Gb disk

DISTRESSOR, mono or stereo?
Hey, everybody!
My question refers to drums: room mic compression. I currently have two EL8 momo distressors. I like them on the room mics but, would it be better to use a stereo EL8 insted? would there be a difference? and if not, whats the point of offering a stereo unit? if you get the same results with two mono units at a cheaper price? thanks for any opinions.

anyone tried the NT-4 Stereo Condenser
Hello everyone!
New to the site and lovin' it. :D
I'm looking at buying one of the RODE NT-4 mics, the one with the Stereo placed pair of capsules. Anyone given it a lash yet? if so how'd it go?
Or would i be better off going for a seperate pair of the NT-5's?

big fake stereo guitars
I'm all for Micing up a real amplifier, and have put in my fair amount of time experimenting with stereo Micing and double tracking to get big stereo guitars. I used some amp sims to add to existing "real" guitars, but passed most of them off as not quite able to stand on their own.

Giving stereo expansion to vocal tracks
I'm recording a band and I would like to add a little more "fatteness" for the vocals in order to give a more stereo spaced impression. I tried to put the vocals on 2 tracks, pan towards Left and Right each and then I tried some delay from 1 to 30 ms between the two tracks. The result was like adding a chorus effect.
