Recording bowed strings with Crown GLM's

Any tips on mic placement etc. please for recording bowed strings (folk fiddles, cello) with Crown GLM subminiature mics? Reason is I've got a some GLM-100s and a 200 for gigs, and I read that the Turtle Island String Quartet recorded their 1st CD using GLM's. For gigs I wedge the pop shield between the strings back of the bridge or velcro them to the bottom of the tailpiece.

Any Suggestions For MIDI Strings?

Hi Everyone,

Sorry for the imposing a MIDI topic but I need some help...

I'm not a MIDI guy at all but I have to use MIDI strings for a project that I'm doing. I got my hands on the Quantum Leap samples (which sound really good), but I'm just finding that I don't have the "MIDI chops" to make them sound as good as I know they can.

Any suggestions?

Thanks!

Recording strings

I'm trying to work out getting strings like "It Ain't Over Till It's Over" by Lenny Kravitz on Mama Said. I've never recorded / hired strings before, so I have a few lame questions:

1. What size section do you think this was to get this sound?
2. What kind of room you think?
3. What kind of Micing - individual, or whole section, etc.

Strings Lost in Mix

Loaded question here. I have a part in a song with 3 strings and electric guitar sharing a lead. Each are doing their own thing butit works. Problem is I cant seem to get proper seperation to hear all parts. I have tried scrolling thru with a paremetric and still cant find the sweet spot.

Electric Guitar-chello-viola-violin.

Maybe I could email a MP3 to someone to hear it.
