the ol studio projects c1

so i've been using the studio projects c1 for about 5 years or so, love it. have tried to replace it with a ksm27, blueberry, and groove tube gt66. and frankly i've since sold the blueberry (always needed extra eq with it), ksm27 was always boring for 99% of vox. and gt 66 was ok but never stuck out for me either. the c1 has always sounded great to me and stuck out in the mix.

Studio Projects C1 / C3

In researching these mics I came across several reviews claiming a marked similarity in tone with the U87. Being the consumate cynic and devil's advocate I put it those of you fortunate enough to have used both. How much truth is in such a claI'm and how much BS. I doubt they are good mics. They get good word of mouth here to be sure. The question is aimed at what to expect if I go this route.

Preamp, Studio Projects C1, Neumann u87

Hi,

First of all a big greetz to all ! GREETZ !
(well it's kinda big :P)

Anyways I'm the new kid on the block and why not begin with a idiotic request :p:

I'm wondering if I could hear the difference between a good and a bad pre-amp ( or between 2 different pre-amp's ).

So does anyone have sound files where you can clearly hear the difference?

Studio Projects C1

Just a quick thanks to all the forum members who pointed me to this mic. Just got one and I love it for vocals. I don't have much experience with mic's, so I can't give any comparisons to the high-end mic 's. Until now, I have been using an Oktava and some MXL mics for all my vocals. The Oktava was pretty good, and I hated the MXL's. The C1 was exactly what I was looking for. Sounds amazing!

Studio Projects C1 or C3?

I have narrowed my search for a vocal mic down to these 2, but I can't decide which one. I am going to be using it mostly for vocals, maybe a little acoustic guitar, but I am more concerned with the vocals. Give me your opinions. From what I have heard from others, it seems that the C3 is an all around better mic, but the C1 is better for vocals. Thanks for your help on this.
