Are there phase issues when tracking acoustic direct in and mic at same time?

hope everyone is doing well in the new year. it is way too snowy here in ny.

I havent asked a question in a while so i'm looking forward to hearng from RO opinions on whats up.

I hear that double tracking is a nice way to get a full acoustic sound. I also understand that it is typically done with two mono tracks, but I am wondering if it can be done effectively with two stereo tracks, done in XY configuration, or is this overburdening the recording?

I am looking for a way to get a decent sound for acoustic guitar. I have tried a few different techniques that might be considered standard methods, without success. The sound is not appealing to my ear.

Any suggestions on this? I am tracking acoustic guitar with an AT-4047 and an AT2020. Both are cardiod pattern mics and I have even placed them a little above the guitar facing down so as to turn them away from the player's head, hoping they would reject the breath sounds even more but I am still getting a lot of it in the recording.

Hi everyone. I have a client/friend coming over today to record acoustic guitar and then some vocals. I want to get the best tracks possible obviously and I have made some recordings in the past with acoustic that arent too bad. Let me just tell you what I've got and maybe you can tell me my best options. I have a Tascam DM-4800 and a single UA LA-610 for pres.
