Layering tracks using buses
Instead of creating new tracks and then copy/paste over the previous one--Could you just send the sound to multiple buses?
So to layer "track A", say 3 times---you would just put in 3 sends and then it creates the same effect of 3 copied tracks playing simultaneously

Licensing Opera Karaoke Tracks - Master Use vs. Mechanical
Hello, I am putting together an album of opera arias and I am currently negotiating with three different karaoke companies to license some of their karaoke backing tracks for these arias. Because all of the operas I am considering are in the public domain (had to exclude Turandot, sadly) I don't believe I need to obtain a mechanical license. Is this correct?

Re-Recording existing tracks onto new tracks in Cubase or Reaper
It sounds like a strange thing to do but I would like to record existing tracks from older files on to new tracks using updated software and VST amp simulators. I like the old existing tracks and do not want to record them from scratch. I have tried to add the amp simulator VST in Cubase 5 to an existing guitar track but it does not change the track at all.
