SMPro Audio SM TB 202 Twin Channel Tube Mic Pre
Has anybody had any experience with this dual channel pre? It's only $250 and i was thinking of using with a pair of rode's NT5s for overheads on the drums? Any suggestions?
RODE NTK mic with replaced TUBE (NOS) - mp3 examples here!
Hi
I own a RODE NTK mic, and am not that happy with the sound. It's brittle, and not very focused.
I would love to get a better mic, but the budget is a little restrictive. So instead, I ordered a replacement tube for the mic, in the hope that I could improve the sound.
The tube I chose was a NOS Philips E88CC/6922 SQ from Holland.
Electro-Harmonix 12AY7 Tube Microphone Preamp
Anyone use this? How does it compare to the SP VTB-1 or the Brick?
Tube mic: GT67 or RODE K2?
I'm planning on buying a new mic to replace my old AKG C3000 (Can you say; harsh?)
I will be using in mainly on vocals (male).
Pre will be a GT Brick.
I would like to have a tube mic as I like vocals to be round and creamy.

Cascade v55 tube mic is amazing
Along with the Apogee Big Ben, I purchased what may be the best value in a tube mic on the planet ($499.) the Cascade v55 valve tube mic is nothing short of amazing and truly able to keep pace with name brands costing well over $1,000.

Mystery of the Tube Mic
Dear RO brothers (and sisters, if you're there),
I just posted a thread in the Vocal Booth section concerning a new microphone, but since it's really a hardware issue, I thought I'd toss a link to it here. Very appreciative if you had a peek:

Mystery of the Tube Mic
First of all: Recording.org rocks the nation.
Now, Secondly: I want to kill my new mic! I received it four days ago. Have a look.
http://
This baby comes, as said, with its own power unit. A seven pin XLR connects the mic to the power unit. A three pin XLR connects the power unit to your input device (in my case an M-Audio Solo).

Lawson L251 Vacuum Tube Mic
I just purchased the lawson L251 tube mic to replace my Neumann TL103. I have a ten day trial on this mic. Out of the box, i have to say that i am not reallying hearing a huge difference between the two mics. and i might even say that i am really disappointed. My signal path is the mic directly into an Avalon M5 then into my MOTU 2408.
