No this is not the umpteenth thread on how many minutes will on each side of a record, I've been preparing pre-masters for lps for some years already. However this time I've stumbled on a big difference in playing times of each side. I know the playing sides should be as close to each other as possible, as I've understood this causes a difference in volume.

I apologize if this is the wrong forum for this, but I wasn't sure exactly what would be the best board.

Anyway, we all know that something like Abbey Road sounds hundreds of times better on vinyl than on any remastered digital track, but does this same concept apply to modern day music?

I have read a million forums regarding the best way to achieve high end quality recordings (to the point were its is doing my head in now!). I was going to go down the road of recording at 24bit/48khz Wav. I was hoping this would be suitable playback on a good audiophile home setup.

Well I'm a newbie to analog sound and have bought the following equipment to rip some tracks from vinyl in a decent quality.

I have some very old classic vinyl recording recording at a famous Jamaican studio called Studio One. They already mastered but a very long time ago and lack luster and punch.

I would like to use the Waves C4 to put some punch into the recordings as they seem very light especially the bass.

Is it best to use the upward compressor or the upward expander or simple EQ the mix

At present I'm in the process of transfering some of my vinyl collection onto my pc so that I can burn the tracks to disc for use with CD players.

So far i've just been using Audacity as the recording device, having connected the output of my mixer into the mic input on my pc and saved each track on a seperate hard drive.

A friend of mine is not into computers, he's a record collector and wants to start recording his vinyl on CD, what's the easiest way for him to do this please?

I feel that I have done a good enough Job but not for vinyl, I need an expert to do that. So where can I find one? Are there companies out there what specialise in mastering peoples work, prepairing it to be pressed onto vinyl? Are you one of these people? PLease assist me because Im having no luck what so ever in finding someone suitable.
