Help! Problems mastering to vinyl!

Forums

Hi guys. I am having problems with a mastering suite. My master is on DAT and when they master to vinyl the sound is all distorted, mainly the vocals. They inform me that this is my fault because I have used certain processing on the vocals that do not work with vinyl. All I have used on the vocals are a Focusrite Voicemaster Pro with compressor, harmonics and tube sound all built in.

cartridge for recording vinyl samples

i currently use a Shure M44-7 with a Technics 1200 turntable + NAD phono pre.
during mixing, i find myself dipping the EQ of the vinyl samples at various points between 1 and 5 k. mainly around 3k.

is there a cartridge more suitable for getting samples to be used in mixes? usually drums (kick/snr/cymbals/toms/etc.)?

i was told the Shure M35S would be better choice.

Mastering for Vinyl ..

Forums

Hi ...
My name is jeremy and i make electronic music . Always on vinyl . i've got about 6 records out now so everything is finally moving from being an experiment with the finished product to now knowing more or less which way to point the ship.

i had a few questions : i'm sure good mastering is good mastering but vinyl can be tricky and requires special care .
