Which do you think is better for audio card INPUTS (not outputs):

1/4" TRS and TS
or
SPDIF (coax digital)

1. The balanced input jack on the audio card is rated at being 104 to around 107 dBA SNR.

2. We all know the SPDIF input is basically digital 1's and 0's.

Many times I install plugins with a choice of directx or vst and I'm not sure which is better.
I'm using Sonar 6 PE.

I have a feeling that the plugin is the same (effectwise), but vst's are easier on the system load.

Any guidance appreciated.

trying to decide which to go with for use with a minidisc recorder - the Sony electret condensor mic or ECM-MS907. The first is much smaller but not digital, which is appealing, but I'm wondering if it would record well. Thanks!

Just interested as to what people thought was the better mic between the RODE NT2A and the AudioTech. AT4040 - for recording vocals (and acoustic instruments)?

I have looked at some prices, and in Australia the 4040 seems to be more expensive then the NT2A, but in the US the 4040 seems to be cheaper?

Is there something I'm missing here?

Okay, so we're running a Focusrite 428 into our DigiDesign 002 Rack VIA a newly-installed A/D converter card in the 428.

Immediately we had jittering out the wazoo.

We quickly fixed that by setting the DigiDesign to slave to the 428.

Trying to configure my new machine. For economic reasons I think I can either get an Athlon64 3500+ with 1Gb ram or an Athlon64 3200+ with 2GB ram. I will probably lean a bit more towards VSTis than audio tracks in my usage(but barely.) What is the consensus?

Which has the better quality mixer? The Ashly LX-308B or the Behringer EURORACK PRO RX1602.
