Sonar 5 PE and Windows 64 bit
I am looking to switch from my Mac/MOTU setup to a Built PC (AMD Opteron) and Sonar 5 PE. I have tryed the Sonar Demo and researched it a bit, but I would like to know if anybody here uses it with 64bit windows and if so what they think of it. Also:
1. Is it hard to find interface drivers for Windows 64 (looking to get a couple of Focusrite Saffire Pros)?

windows services
you also gotta eliminate all those useless windows services running in the background... they suck up all your power! goto start>run>services.msc and start setting things from automatic or manual to disabled. How do you know what to set?

Using Firepod with Windows XPx64...
Does anyone have any idea about the compatibility issues dealing with installing the Firepod ASIO and Midi drivers using Windows XP Professional x64? I know there are definitly some issues with the use of 32-bit programs with this particular OS, but I'm DYING to get this working. Can I install the ASIO and MIDI drivers manually?

Windows XP Clean Installation Tool
I found a tool that seems like it would be great for doing a super clean install of Windows XP.
It lets you customize the installation to install ONLY what you want it to. You can eliminate all the crap parts of windows that you don't need that slow down your system. You can also slipstream service packs and [possibly] other updates as well.

Goodbye Windows Swapfile
Not really the place for this, but this tip is profound. If you have plenty of RAM in your DAW, (I have 2GB), you can turn off the Windows Swapfile with confidence. This significantly improves bootup speed, general speed during operations and much less disk thrashing. Really worthwhile.

akai S2000, mesa, windows XP. problems!
hi
can anyone help me set up my S2000 with mesa. Mesa won't find my S2000 via scsi. I know my card is working properly. But mesa keeps shutting down when looking for my sampler. Has anyone got this same set up working? Are there other ways to feed wav. files to my S2000 via scsi.
thanx for your time
