Free Windows XP Recording Software?
A friend of mine would like to transfer his old cassette tapes into his computer. Unfortunately, since I'm a mac user, I'm not too familiar with any PC recording software. Pro Tools Free won't run on Windows XP. Any recommendations? Thanks.

Windows 2000 or XP for burning CD's?
Hi, I know little about computers. I've had an AMD 2700 computer built for CD burning from masters made on two track reel and/or mini disc. I've decided to get the M-Audio 2496 card for the computer.

Windows 2000 and "Standard PC" mode
Okay, I have a P42Ghz with 512Mgs of ram running a Whizpro BIOS Ver. 1.01 dated 04/02/02 and have installed Windows 2000 Professional. I tried to follow Opus' optimization guide, but to be honest, I never saw the initial screen prompt saying hit F6 to add any third party SCSI devices and drivers, so I couldn't follow his directions and hit F5 at that time to select "Standard PC".

Win98SE or Windows 2000?
I've been using a DAW - p42ghz, 512mg ram, one 10gig harddrive, and another 80gig hardrive, running Cubase 3.7 with a Lexicon Core 2 interface. Well, I just bought a Delta 1010 for the added inputs and have the opportunity to upgrade to Windows 2000.

Disabling the windows built-in writing program.
Over at http://www.CDrinfo.com/forum/default.asp it seems that disabling the windows built-in burning program is a common tweak. This is new to me (like so much else.)
Does anyone else routinely disable the built in writing system as part of their basic configuration?
