I am new in the market for a digital mixing board and was just about to buy a Mackie d8b (because a good friend has one and loves it) and then I recently found out about the Yamaha 02R96. I'm wondering if anyone has opinions one way or the other about these boards to help me choose what is the best product and how reliable it is. Thanks very much.

I came across one of these 8 channel mic preamp beasts while digging through a pile of neglected semi pro gear I used to use. I remember that it seemed to sound sort of dark and muffeled in comparison to Neve or API pres and even the pres on my old MCI 600 console. Anyone know anything about these things? I heard somthing recently about an upgrade someone does and I am curious about that too.

I'm in the market for some good nearfield monitors and I just wanted to get some opinions on some good monitors in the $300 range. Tho I could possibly go more if they're really good. :)

Right now I'm looking at the Yorkville YSM-1i monitors ($240) and I've heard these are very good, but I'm also open to other suggestions if you guys know of any better ones.

I own a Yamaha MTX-8 8 track cassette recorder. The tape speed has begun to vary considerably, as if someone were turning the pitch control. (This happens regardless of whether pitch control is set to fixed or variable). Any ideas about what might be the cause of this, and potential fixes? Thank you.

After reformating my PC i've been re-installing everything which has been fine uptill now...
One external sound module connects via a serial port and that is fine; i down-loaded the right driver for that one.
