Dear ME's

Do you have any troubles(Sync locking) with using longer AES/EBU cables(1,2,3 meters) ?

I think that i made a mistake by doing a digital patchbay and it made my DAC click on the input relay.
I think that i will just direct couple my digital units with short cables instead.

Have you tested SPDIF agains AES/EBU? And how do you define the difference?

I've tested this and just what to hear you're meaning about it.

Thanks,

I used to work at a studio that had a Neve Capricorn for a number of years. In the center of the control room behind the producer's desk we had a rather large xlr patchbay that we used for our digital gear. This patchbay was specifically wired for 110 ohm digital lines to our digital gear which was located in the penthouse gear racks located anywhere from 10 to 15 feet away on either side of the control room. We rarely had any problem with jitter.

The only time that I noticed any substantial jitter (we had a db3000 Digital optimizer which displayed the actual sample rate no matter what it was) is when the console reverted back to its internal clock, whenever the master wordclock was removed or lost for whatever reason.

We were also using those canare 110ohm xlr (aes) to 75 ohm coax (spdif) adapters to gear that needed it (i.e. PCM 80, PCM 90) again with very little problems, if any at all.
