Has anyone worked with the Focusrite 428 with the digital option installed. Seems like an incredible deal. Thinking of using this as the front end for my new project studio. Waddaya think?

I have one and have been using it for a few months now and am very happy with it. I haven't bothered to hook it up to my Apogee converters as well for an A/B test, but it's sounded good enough with what I've used it for that I haven't felt it necessary to do so.

I got my 428 last week, and all the preliminary testing that I have done with it has shown it to be a really nice piece.
I do not have the A/D card, although it will be my next purchase. It adds a lot of value to the unit to be sure.
Once thing I really like about the 428 is the inclusion of the inserts! Well done!

the sound card issue is solved to the extent that now i've zeroed in on the the Pro Tools HD2.
However, with this I want to use either the Prism Dream ADA-8 or an Apogee converter. I'll be getting a digital mixer like the DM2000, but would want to use external pres.
In this case, which AD would be rated higher -- the ISA with digital option or the Prism/Apogee?

Just a guess, but I'd have to say the Prism/Apogee stuff would be of a higher quality.

The best price you will get, without question is from Alto Music.

You'll need to email them for a quote, but I'm sure you will find it is much less than what you would find at most other places.
btw...I am very much in love with my 428!!! It is a really, really nice piece of gear, and sounds very full and detailed. I am very pleased with my decision, and the Alto folks are really great to deal with.

Have it but don't use the digital option as much now that I've gone to a Radar. The converters on the 428's digital card are likely an improvement over most stock DAW or AIO converters - at least it was for me.
