Hi,
I'm interested in adding a master word clock generator to my home studio, and the obvious choice, the Aardsync II, is a bit pricey for me.
Is there anything out there that does the same thing for less money?
Thanks,
Mark

Natick...Natick?!!! I didnt know there was people interested in audio out there!!! Grew up in good ol marblehead(pronounced mahblehead if you're a true bostonian!!)
The Aardsync is a great sync box and is highle used in the industry and is well worth the price. It depends on how many word clock outs you need..the Nuendo TimeLock Pro is a nice device but doesnt have the multiple outs like the Aard sync...or the Digital Time Piece from MOTU is an all around sync box that a lot of people get. The USD from Digidesign is nice as well but really meant for ProTools rigs. Aardvark has been making the Sync boxes for awhile(and really should stick to that and not audio IMHO) and are reliable. It's worth the money

Thanks for the help.
The Nanosync looks like a good box too, but after checking on the prices, it'll end up costing me only a hair less than the Aardsync II.

I've found a little German box called the Smart Clock my Mutec. You can get them thru musicians-gear.com for under $600 USD including int'l. shipping. Has anyone heard anything about these or used them?
Thanks,
Mark

be carefull, not all clocks are considered 'Master' clocks. some generate internal WC, some just accept input WC and pass it on, etc. some very few generate WC and thats all, with a very, very stable reference accurancy.

TimeLock Pro, for example, is not considered a "Master Clock" even though it outputs WC (so does my old TM-D1000).

as far as Master WC, Aarsvark SyncII is among the very, very best. then output the SyncII into C-Lab 'TimeMachine', Rosendalh 'Nanosync',
Steinberg 'TimeLock Pro' (which is a Rosendalh product), MOTU DigitalTimePiece, etc. this gives you the very best clock and all the routing options out there.

IMHO.

hope this helps.
