I did see one post where it was discussed, but it was not clear that they were actually compared side by side, or just opinions. Also, the differences were not made clear.

I've used a P8 on acoustic guitar and piano once. It's just straight clean gain. I couldn't hear anything that I could remark on, just gain.

I found the two channel pretty musical... until I hit the 'hi gain' switch where it got this upper midrange harshness that reminded me of their 8 channel unit [which reminded me of the Grace... hard, cold and void of soul much like the Millennia HV-3].

The phase correlation meter is a neat gimick.

Fletcher - if you wanted two channels of clean pre without a harsh high end (excluding some of the cleaner tube units) - I assume you would recommend the Hardy or GML? If you went with the Hardy, would you prefer the special output transformers?
