This MA300 looks like it would be a great addition to anyone's collection. I own an MA200 and absolutely love it. It has the silkiness of a ribbon mic but the sensitivity and dynamic response of a condenser, very nice!

See, we think alike! I have 2x MA 300 coming and can't wait to use them. I had the MA 200's and sold them a while back to fund the Bricasti's. I hate selling mics. I'm on a mic replenishing mission this coming year. Preparing for something fun.

Not sure how others feel about variable attenuation but I opt for this over detent many times. Detent Recall is a fun thing but can often be way too far away for me. As an example, I had the option for set or variable panning on the Neos. I sent it back and they replaced them with variable. I like!
Its a bitch trying to dead lock a center when set value is forcing something slightly off. When using an MS matrix and you have dead lock center, its like gold to me.

The MA-200 sounded great! very smooth mic. I loved it with the 2NV. I bet its killer with the LA2A? Do you use it like that? I bet you are lapping up the M-149 on that though?

Yes, my typical path with the MA200 is 2NV > LA2A > Board. On acoustic bass I'm finding I can't beat the M149 > 2NV > LA2A path as well. Found out that others are also loving the M149 on acoustic (stand-up) bass as well. One client finds he particularly likes the M149, set to Fig. 8 in the middle of my Live Room for his vocal.
My most-used mics are a matched pair of Charter Oak M900T. One is out for repair right now, under lifetime warranty!

Totally agree, I have a MA200 and the MA201fet and I use them constantly in my studio. They both sound great with my Overstayer pre as well as my Millennia HV-3C. I'm hoping to upgrade to the 300 and 301 this year so I have the other patterns.

Cool, especially more so because you are using the HV-3C. I love Millennia. I have the M-2b and its incredible. So big sounding. What do the fets sound like compared?

I'll have to check out the M-2b, it looks really nice. The MA201fet sounds a bit more direct and not as bright as the MA200. I thought the MA201 was very similar to a U87 when I compared them a few years ago.

Good comparison on the MA 200. My next Mojave quest should be those fets. Thanks for sharing.

I sold a U87ai after comparing the Mojaves. If I recall my findings were similar to yours too, the MA200 was ever so slightly brighter but I thought it was in a nice sheen in comparison. Through an LA2A, they sound really sweet as do many other mics too. An LA2A is the bomb for vocals, have you had the pleasure? !! I can't rave enough about those either. Everyone should have at least one!

I hated to loose the Neumann name in my studio, but, 2 (or three) Mojave's for the price of one u87 make good sense indeed.

I have yet to own a real LA2A, I have a Summit TLA-100A, an Overstayer VCA compressor and the Overstayer Stereo compressor. Someday I have to get a real LA2A, I've also been thinking about getting a distressor at some point. I think you'll love the MA201 if you get it, it's one of my favorite mics.
