According to the manual for your Korg you can backup your data to your computer via the Korgs USB port. You can find this information on page 85 of your manual.

The USB port is only on the D1600 mkII, I have the v40. It has a CDRW so I could do it that way but that will grow extremly tedious.
I should mentioned that it also has ADAT connections, have no idea what these are for though?

You can send 8 discrete tracks through the ADAT lightpipe to your EMU card.

By connecting your Korg to your computer via the ADAT lightpipe the computer should see the Korg as an ADAT unit (a multitrack tape recorder). It looks like your 1212 has S/PDIF and ADAT capabilities. You should be able to use either of these to get your Korg's files into your PC. Your manual should tell you how to do it. You will probably want to set your PC as the master clock. Perhaps someone with more experience with all in one studios could be of more help as I don't have much experience with them. RO also has a powerful search engine you could try as this topic may have already been discussed.

ADAT = Alesis Digital Audio Tape (I think)
S/PDIF = Sony/Phillips Digital Interface

Thank you all for your comments I will go home tonight set up the soundcard and try it out.

OK, just thought I'd update this. So I connected my D1600 to my soundcard using the optical S/Pdif. It sounds great, no loss in quality at all.
I am unable to transfer any files across though? this probably sounds a bit stupid but, is the only way I can transfer my files from the D1600 to my pc by burning the files onto a disc?
And just a quick question, is the sound quality going to be just as good if I was to record the audio onto my PC through the optical out, or would I be better of to burn the WAV file onton CD and just import it onto the PC?

Why can't you transfer them. Set both the Korg and EMU to ADAT with the EMU as master clock. Set your DAW software to record from the ADAT interface of the EMU to 8 tracks in the DAW software, press play on the Korg and it should record those tracks in your DAW.

On the E-MU 1212 as as all the other current E-MU PCI cards that have ADAT optical, you must make sure that the session settings in Patchmix (I/O Tab) that the optical port is configured for either S/PDIF or ADAT. ADAT is also usually used at 48K but can work at 44.1K.

I think that my Korg mixer can actually only use spdif optical. I think that is the problem.
