When working with budget gear (or even "weekend warrior" gear like mine) I think it's a mistake to focus on "mastering plugins." To "master" your own mixes you need good monitors, good room treatment, good eq, good compressors, good limiters. In other words, exactly the same stuff you need to make good mixes. The biggest reason that MEs use different tools that REs is that they can afford to pay a lot more because they usually work with only a stereo track. If you are dealing with budget gear it's basically all the same stuff. This includes all of the black box "exciters" and "enhancers" that get billed as mastering plugs. I'm not a fan, but if you like them why would you only use them on the master bus?

I second FLUX. Their Solera is the most versatile dynamics processor I have. I have heard great things about their Epure equalizer, but I have not as of yet had the opportunity to audition it.
