Can anyone give me some input for this mic? I use it for a vocal mic but I cannot compare to others since its my first mic. I put it through an ART tube and I cant get a good sound from it, but I'm not sure if it is the tube or the mic. If anyone has this microhpone or have used it, feel free to respond.
I am strictly using it for acoustic guitar and vocals.

I have a couple of the M179's, the multi-pattern version of your mic. I use them as room mics (omni) when I'm in the studio, and for brass sections (figure-8) when I do live SR for big bands. They're no Neumanns, but they aren't schlock, either. I have no idea what you are getting picked up, so to say it's the mic or the preamp would be premature. I will say that in MANY instances, a large diaphragm mic used in the wrong environment can sound BAD because it picks up all of the "room flutter" and other artifacts of an acoustically-challenged room. So, anway give us some more info on what you are experiencing...

I think a lot of the good sounds you hear are because of the mic and not as much the ART preamp.
