I'm about to put together my computer for the studio.
I do all the multitracking on a Tascam. Basically, I'd just like the computer to be able to record 24-bit files from the Tascam via S/PDIF. I was going to go with the M-audio 2496 card, but just ran across some motherboards made by DFI that have S/PDIF inputs.
Any thoughts? Should the DFI inputs be just as good as the Maudio card inputs?
Thanks
The digital I/O on most mobos are of consumer grade quality. Not
The digital I/O on most mobos are of consumer grade quality. Not saying that it can't be used, but moreso saying that your options fair a lot better going with a dedicated audio card. Actually, the mobo on this computer I'm using is equipped w/ the DFI, 865PE-TAG. It has on board SPDIF, but I would'nt care to use it. Maybe for some general dubbing & etc., but that's about it.
