Here is what you need to know about most optical compressor/limiters.

Most modern-day optical compressor/limiters utilize a "Vac-tech" LED with light dependent resistor, 1 peace package. Most all are the same in that respect and the LED ballistics are pretty much all the same. The true difference which originated with the LA 2 is the " electroluminescent panel". This electroluminescent panel is also utilized within the transistorized solid-state, LA 3! It's ballistics are much different from that of an LED and I would go with a new or used LA 3! I don't to much care for the LED types even though I also own 2 LA 4s, they're OK but not my favorites.

You also have a batch of exceptional outboard equipment and obviously don't know what you're doing with any of it. Go back to school.

why do I need to go back to school, because i',m looking for a opto compressor, I know i have exceptional equipment, does that mean, i shouldn't look for a opto compressor, that doesn't make sense. Maybe i'll just keep these three piece's for life, and don't buy anything else....... or maybe i'll use the manley limiter for my opto, and don't buy another one....

Oh well David, I don't know many engineers that are good with English, myself included. But I did have fun with this thread.

I do love your new picture and I'm getting all hot and bothered by it!
I even think it adds to your credibility as a superb engineer. You look so much more confident. Okay I'll stop.

Tickle me with audio

Sorry to interrupt, but the original poster stated that he had a Manley El-Op...........isn't that an opto-compressor? I'm inclined to agree with the comments from the members of this forum that, if this guy truly does have the gear that he indicated, why is he not able to get that to work for him. I get the idea that there are more and more spoiled kids out there that have more money than talent and seem to want more toys for instant gratification....I guess I am getting more and more bitter in my old age.
