Hey, I am not trying to start any trouble here. And you know Nuendo is out of my range anyhow, but I would like to know what is it that Has Nuendo in a class by itself.
I am always hearing about this pro, or that pro, who is going to Nuendo. I hear about studios ditching Protools in favor of Nuendo. And they use reasons like not being tied to hardware, and being able to grow with your computers and what not.
If I am not mistaken, other programs have been offering this for a long time. Cubase, Logic, DP, Sonar,Samplitude, CoolEditPro. What is it about Nunedo that makes it a real competitor to Protools.

Multiple levels of undo(in real time), ability to import Avi, mov, edl, mpeg formats directly into the track view and alos be able to stretch it out to each subframe, post production ability, amazingly fast editing abilities, automation on every possible feature, any hardware you want to use with it, surround sound, VSTi, nudging audio events or regions, sample editing, real time everything....I can go on and on...
It's a matter of a software interface that people can use quickly and easily..Nuendo offers this.
Plus it has further support for importing different types of file formats...allows for multiple bit depth files within one project..
there are other features that exist in Nuendo that do not exist in the other programs such as Cool Edit, Samplitude or other so called competitors.
Yes, I've tried them all but to be honest...Nuendo has the edge on performance...I can delete files on real time and add them back in real time..I can quickly record enable a track and press record while playing...etc etc etc..
There are some things that Nuendo lacks to be truly a major competitor to Pro Tools but withi Version 2.0 we should see that become a reality.
Digi better hope that Nuendo doesn't push them off the shelves...Cubase SX is now Nuendo's little brother so to speak...

actually...there is no import audio from video feature in SX...
yes, SX is based upon Nuendo with all the audio options BUT not as much video options...that's going to be the main difference between the two...
SX is aimed at the music people..Nuendo is aimed at the Post people.

It was amazing for me to later on learn that Donny (we're about the same age) suffered from social anxiety disorder ( I remember at 16, playing the Catskills and before every show, all muscles in my body would cramp up in excruciating pain, LOL :roll: ) I spent years not leaving the house in the day to avoid people, then going out at night to the studio or to gig. How's that for self imposed torture! Man, the mind is amazing if you can control it , and not let it control you!

Being able to import other formats, is that like AIFF, which is the equivalent of .WAV? So then you could import audio recorded on a Mac, and work with it in Nuendo. If this is correct, then I can see how that would be useful, Especially if that means being able to import audio recorded on removable devices such as the Mackie and Alesis standAlone systems.
