Hi,

I recently bought a Win7 laptop for home use. I'm going to try to re-purpose it for use as a 'Rompler'... to replace my Korg and Ensoniq Keyboard WS which are getting ready to die.

I don't need a lot of sequencing... I just need to switch patches quickly. So this is meant to be not much more than a glorified multi-preset keyboard.

I've checked that the laptop is audio-ready. I'm about to go get a USB audio interface, but before I do I want to figure out a hosting solution.

I have licenses for Cubase, Halion, everything from NI and Arturia so I have all the VSTis I need.

So this brings up the next phase: HOST and PATCH SELECTION. What I want/need is a way to load the sounds and switch patches quickly for a set list. I was thinking that I could just use Cubase, create a 'template' song with a couple of common VSTis as separate tracks (Piano, Organ, etc.) and in some way 'click' to switch between tracks after each song.

Or?

Once I have that methodology down, I can then go pick out an interface and test how well this all works.

One thing a kid @ GC said (which may or may not be true) is that Ableton Live and Reason both have facilities to do pretty much exactly this---since they are more oriented towards live performance.
