I don't care how much it costs, just want the best reverb plugin available. What is it?
Cheers!

Here's the ones I'm using right now:
1. Sonnox for my versatile modern reverb. I use it any time I'm going for a natural sound.
2. UAD EMT 140 that gets closer to a real plate sound than any other plugin I've found.
3. UAD Lexicon 224 for those long tail washes.
"Best sounding" is really a matter of taste here. The UAD plugins sound great to me, but they are not natural sounds. A lot of people really like the UAD EMT 250, but it just doesn't thrill me.

Smooth tails and silk is what I'm looking for. The Lexicon 224 sounds like something I would like.

Seriously, try [="http://www.valhalla…"]VRoom[/]="http://www.valhalla…"]VRoom[/] (as users have affectionately dubbed it)

I started [="http://recording.org/digital-audio.21/50453-valhalla-room.html"]a thread[/]="http://recording.or…"]a thread[/] for it the other day actually, though its not had much response. Absolutely amazing sound, and very tweakable: its quite hard to make it sound bad or artificial.
I also love the fact that the reverb time can be automated with no nasty artifacts: sweeping a long ambient 100s reverb down to a really short setting can create amazing "rushing inward" type effects.
But mostly its about really convincing room simulations, plus some vintage lexicon style flavours from the new "Dark" modes.
Lots more info on the developer's blog: [ValhallaRoom « The Halls of Valhalla[/]="http://valhalladsp…"]ValhallaRoom « The Halls of Valhalla[/]

Hope this one may suit your needs! Good luck!

I don't like the Realverb Pro quite as much as the Sonnox, but I like it enough that I probably would not have gone shopping for the Sonnox if I had all of the UAD plugins first. The controls are very different. With the Sonnox you tend to be adjusting more technical parameters. With the RealVerb you choose natural things like room shapes and surface compositions.
The thing about the Lexicon is that it sounds like a Lexicon - Peter Gabriel, Blade Runner. Same thing with the other UAD emulations - they sound like vintage technology and are not as natural as modern reverbs. I like that. Others may not.

I'm getting curious about that VRoom, though!!!N.
I don't have the Lexicon plugs: I would be curious to know how you think VRoom compares, especially using the new "Dark" modes which are inspired by vintage Lexicon designs.
