I tried this in the Biz section but didn't get any bites. Anyone here have any thoughts?
I've had a few people ask if I would record their Vocals over their Karaoke songs. What kind of Legal issues could I run into here? Obviosly it would be illegal for them to try to sell copies of it, but is it legal for me to record them for their own personal use? Should I have them sign some kind of indemnity form. Anyone have such a form? This kind of form probably wouldn't be a bad idea for those bands using samples also.

Thanks Kirt. Have any thoughts on the "recording samples" issue. I've yet to run into the problem, but I know it's only a matter of time before someone asks me to do it. Are there any liability issues there for me or is it all on the band and the CD manufacturers?

Don't worry about it. That is why they make krapiokie tapes.. for people to sing over or record over. When they purchase the tapes, they have paid for the use.. this is not an issue for you and you have no liability for what they do with it after you finish and put it back in the clients control. It's there problem, not yours. I've done what you are talking about hundreds of times and it's never presented itself as a problem ...
